US Postal Service is set to raise commercial parcel rate temporarily

US Postal Service announced that it is planning to raise commercial parcel rates temporarily on all commercial domestic competitive packages. The USPS has filed a notice with Postal Regulatory Commission on August 14 and the price change will is expected to take effect from October 18 and will remain in place until December 27 this year.

The temporary price will affect only commercial customers without impacting the customers at the retail level.

The planned price adjustment is due to the increased expense and heightened eCommerce volumes during the pandemic outbreak as well as the expected holiday eCommerce in the upcoming months. The increases will apply to parcels shipped via Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, First-Class Package Service, Parcel Select, and Parcel Return Service.
